ALL MILLARD NORTH WRESTLERS, PARENTS, and INTERESTED PARTIES:
 
The 2009-2010 Millard North Wrestling Banquet will be held at the Millard North Mustang Center on Tuesday, 03/09/10 at 6:30 PM.  Wrestlers and Managers will be admitted free and Parents and Others will be charged $10 for MWBC Members and $15 for non-MWBC Members at the door.  Food will be provided by Valentino's.  Also, 2009-2010 wrestling DVD orders will be taken.

Mustangs Finish 11th at State

Matt Lenagh was crowned Class A Champion at 189 lbs. and Gil Algood took 3rd place at 130 lbs.

Mustangs send 10 to state.

 
Millard North finished third in the A-2 District at Creighton Prep High School, qualifying 10 individuals to next week's state Tournament.  Competing without #2 ranked Chase Neumann, the mustangs were very close to qualifying all 13 wrestlers.  The state tournament will be held at the Qwest Center Omaha February 18 - 20.

MUSTANGS FINISH 4TH AT METRO DUALS

In the final regular season event, the Mustangs patch together a lineup and finish a respectable 4th at the Metro Conference dual tournament held at Millard South.  In the first round the #6 seeded Millard North defeated #3 Omaha North 42 -36.  Followed by losses to #2 Millard South 64 - 12 and #4 Omaha Burke 54 - 18.
Several varsity regulars were out of the lineup due to illness and injury, but we hope to have our full varsity lineup at districts for the first time all season.

Mustangs finish 4th at the Norfolk invitational.
All MN wrestlers finish in the top 6!  Highlights for the Mustangs included a championship performance from Matt Lenagh who defeated #1 Alan Taylor of Grand Island.  Evan Christensen finished as runner up, defeating #2 Corey Frankenberg of Grand Island in the semi finals.   The goal now is to get through Metro Duals on Feb. 2nd and to get everyone healthy by Districts.

Mustangs hobble to a 5th place finish at Plattsmouth.

The Millard North wrestlers traveled to Plattsmouth for the first time, replacing the tournament that was held in Lexington.  The host school dominated the field, and the rest of the pack was in a tight race for 2nd.  The Mustangs were again without a couple of regulars in Chase Neumann and Connor McMillin, and along with some disappointing finals matches, the Mustangs look for improvement next week in Norfolk

Millard North finishes 6th in a loaded Metro Conference Tournament

In what may have been the most competitive Metro Conference tournament in a decade, The mustangs medal 10 of 13 wrestlers to place 6th.  The 16 team - 2 day event held at Papillion LaVista South, featured 6 of the top 10 teams in class A.  The Mustangs were led by Matt Lenagh who remained unbeaten in winning his first Metro conference crown at 189.
Gil Allgood wrestled in his 4th straight Metro Conference final but fell short to top ranked Tyrell Galloway 4 - 2.   Millard North wrestled without #2 ranked Chase Neumann and # 4 ranked Austin Edmonds due to injury.

Millard West Invite (1/9/10)

Millard North crowns three champions and finishes fourth at Millard West invite.  The field featured 6 of the top 8 teams in class A.  Champions for the Mustangs included undefeated wrestlers Gill Allgood at 130(8 - 0) and Matt Lenagh (17 - 0) at 189, and once beaten  Chase Neumann (15-1) at 145.  At 160 lbs, Austin Edmonds  finished as a runner up to returning state champ Chris Tyler of O. North

South Sioux City Tournament

Millard North puts 8 of 10 wrestlers into the finals to take the Team Title at South Sioux City.  Three individuals came up champions, Dillon Heckendorn at 152, Matt Lenagh at 189, and HWT  Evan Christensen.  In the marquee match of the night, #2 ranked Chase Neumann fell short against #1 Chase White of Lincoln High 7 - 4.

East West Dual

The injury depleted Mustangs traveled to Lincoln East Saturday to compete in the East-West dual classic.  The team lost to #1 ranked Grand Island 54-18, #2 ranked Kearney 52-23, and #4 Creighton Prep 42-19.  The Mustangs Defeated Lincoln East 40 - 34.   Five starters were out with injuries but all should be back after Christmas break.

Vern Ekfelt Tournament

Despite a rash of injuries, Millard North crowned 3 champions and finished fourth in the 64th annual Vern Ekfelt invitational at Omaha North High School.  The team started the tournament without starters Justin Reis,Aron Wehr, Matt Coufal, and Nick Bellus. After making semi-final appearances, Senior captains Gil Allgood and Austin Edmonds injury defaulted to 6th. Junior Karl Krieser also suffered injury and bowed out of 2nd day competitions.
 
Three mustangs dominated the field to claim individual titles.  At 145 Chase Neumann controled defending State Champion Christian Loges of Skutt Catholic.  Both Connor McMillin at 189 and Matt Lenagh at 215 recorded pins in the final to claim victory.  Senior Arturo Cruz had an impressive showing by claiming 2nd at 171.

Metro Youth HOLIDAY WRESTLING TOURNAMENTS

The Booster club sponsored TWO wrestling tournaments on SUNDAY, NOV. 29, 2009 at Millard North High School:  The Holiday Novice Tournament and the 25th Annual Metro Youth Wrestling Classic

MUSTANG WRESTLING CLUB

Sign up and registration for the Mustang Wrestling Club is ongoing.  Practices will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm at Millard North High School in the wrestling room (the mezzanine on the south side of the gym).  Complete schedules will be available at registration.  The club is open to all students in Kindergarten through eighth grade living in the Millard North attendance area.  The season will run from November through February.  The cost of participation is only $70 with an optional/refundable $40 deposit for singlet ($20 discount for siblings!!).  If you have any questions, please call Weylon White at 689-4134, or email him at wgwhite@mpsomaha.org.
