High Amplitude Camp

Several Millard North wrestlers participated in the Annual High-Amplitude camp held at Elkhorn HS during the week of June 9th.  The camp includes all three Millard High Schools and Elkhorn.  Camp Counselors this year were University of Nebraska All-Americans Paul Donahoe, Brandon Browne, and Jordan Burroughs.  Camp award winners for Millard North were Dalton Ridder, Matt Lenagh, and Taylor Vaiskunas.  (Click photo to enlarge)

Mizzou Team Camp

The Millard North contingency had a strong showing at the University of Missouri Team Camp.  Twelve Millard North wrestlers traveled to Columbia and the team finished in 5th place out of twenty teams in the dual competition.  Several impressive performances were turned in including:  Austin Edmonds (12-0, 1st in Gold Division), Chase Neumann (11-1, 1st in Gold Division), John Gilbert (11-1, 2nd in Gold Division), Gil Allgood (10-2, 2nd in Gold Division), Garrett Allen (10-2, 2nd in Gold Division), Dillon Heckendorn (11-2, 3rd in Gold Division), Scott Quandahl wrestled well and finished 5th in the Gold Division. Impressive performances in the Silver Division were champs Taylor Vaiskunas and Matt Lenagh. Other wrestlers who participated and despite some injuries, put their best foot forward and showed a commitment toward improving themselves and their team were Brett Becker, Tyler Welborn, and Tony Lonergan. (Click photo to enlarge)

Millard North Wrestlers named to All-State Academic Teams

Millard North wrestlers have been added to the all academic teams of two different statewide organizations.  The Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association named Alex  Edmonds (1st Team), Brian Newton (2nd Team)  and Scott Quahndahl (2nd Team) to their All State Academic Teams for their excellence on and off the mat.  Click here to see the entire roster.

The Nebraska Schools Activities Association (NSAA) has named Alex Edmonds to an impressive fourth All-State Academic team.  Taylor Vaiskunas earned the same honor for the first time.  Additionally, The Metro Conference has issued it's very first All-Conference Academic team. Mustangs making the inaugural list include: Alex Edmonds, Brian Newton, and Scott Quandahl.

Annual Wrestling Banquet

A celebration of the 2007-2008 Season occurred March 12 at Millard North's Mustang Center.  The Banquet was hosted by president Bob Edmonds, and catered by Famous Daves Bar-B-Q.  Coach White would like to again thank everyone for coming.  A special thanks to Cheryl Becker, who led the banquet committee and everyone involved in helping to decorate and making it such a success.   The Patron of the Year award went to Henry Kelpe.  The MWBC proudly awarded a total of $1850 in scholarship money to seniors Brian Newton, Alex Edmonds, Taylor Vaughn, Tyler Tews, Derek Ulch, and Zach Powers.  Congratulations to all the Award winners and Scholarship recipients.

State Championships

Sophomore Gil Algood participated in the walk of Champions on his way to a runner up finish at the 2008 Class A State Wrestling Championships.  This is Algood's second medal in the State Championships.  Austin Edmonds (Sophomore) also became a two time medalist with a sixth place medal at 145 lbs, while 171 pound senior Taylor Vaughn wrestled his way to a 5th place medal.   Senior captain Brian Newton capped off his high school career with a 4th place medal at 189 lbs.  Newton was the 2007 runner-up at that weight.  Overall, Millard North finished 12th out of 32 Class A Schools.
